Michael McLaughlin Named Head of Sponsorship And Sales For High Fidelity HDTV
(Toronto, ON) – Michael A. McLaughlin - a veteran television marketer, has joined High Fidelity HDTV Inc. as Head of Sales and Sponsorship, it was announced today by managing partners, Ken Murphy, John Panikkar and David Patterson.
McLaughlin will also become a part owner of the business and becomes the fourth member of the High Fidelity HDTV management committee.
High Fidelity HDTV is an independent Canadian broadcaster with a suite of 4 channels broadcast in Canada: Oasis HD, Treasure HD, Equator HD and Rush HD.
McLaughlin will be responsible for all aspects of sales and sponsorships for High Fidelity HDTV. “We are thrilled to have Michael on our team,” said Murphy. “He is one of the most colourful and effective personalities in Canadian marketing, and his energy is infectious. With his vast experience of 23 years and unique expertise in Canadian television, I believe he will deliver growth and new audiences to our business."
McLaughlin joins High Fidelity from Omnicom Media Group, where he served for eight years as an Executive Vice President within the Entertainment Group responsible for sales and marketing to the Canadian broadcasting community. He spent 15 years prior with CanWest Global in numerous positions including Production, Programming and Sales. McLaughlin began his career as a camera operator at Global Television in 1985.
McLaughlin attended Arizona State on a golf scholarship and is an alumnus of Harvard University’s Marketing Management Program. He currently sits on the board of Magicana, a charity dedicated to the exploration of magic as a performing art and provides an outreach program for kids interested in magic, creativity, and the dramatic arts. McLaughlin himself has practiced the art of magic for years.
McLaughlin was also a founding member of “Raising the Roof”, Canada’s only National Charity for Homelessness. Since its inception in 1997 Raising the Roof has allocated over $2.5 million dollars to more than 100 partner agencies across Canada working to reduce homelessness at the community level.
